A Very Fussy Pup Holiday

A Very Fussy Pup Holiday

As snowflakes swirl outside the frosted windows, the warmth of the holidays fills the house. George, the 10-year-old Mastiff, and Sam and Lilly, the three-year-old Cane Corso sisters, have settled into their winter routine. With holiday music playing softly in the background and the scent of cookies wafting through the air, the pack is gearing up for a festive celebration.

George takes his usual spot near the crackling fireplace, his massive frame stretched out like a contented bear rug. His favorite winter pastime? Watching the holiday hustle with a wise and sleepy gaze, as if reminding everyone to savor the season. A festive plaid bandana around his neck gives him an air of sophisticated cheer.

Sam and Lilly, however, are not ones to take things slow—especially not during the holidays. The dark brindle sisters have claimed the job of inspecting every new decoration. Sam sniffs curiously at the tree, her head tilting as the ornaments sparkle in the light. Lilly, ever the mischievous one, has already figured out that the stockings on the mantle might just hold treats. A gentle nudge from George keeps them from going too far... for now.

The family tradition of holiday baking is in full swing. George supervises from his cozy spot, his nose twitching at the tantalizing aroma of freshly baked cookies (dog-safe ones included, of course). Sam and Lilly eagerly hover in the kitchen, their dark eyes following every movement. The jingling of cookie cutters signals that it’s time for their favorite part—taste-testing the jumbo dog bone cookies made just for them.

When evening falls, it’s time for the annual “paws and presents” tradition. George carefully noses his wrapped gift, waiting patiently as the girls excitedly tear into theirs—Lilly getting hers open first, of course, with Sam quickly following. George, ever dignified, takes his time revealing a plush squeaky toy, which he promptly settles down with.

As the night winds down, the pack gathers near the tree, the glow of the lights reflecting in their eyes. George lets out a deep, satisfied sigh, while Sam and Lilly snuggle close, their energy finally winding down. Together, they remind us that the best part of the holidays isn’t the decorations or the gifts—it’s the love and laughter we share with those who mean the most.

From George, Sam, Lilly, and all of us here at Tails from the Pack: Happy Holidays to you and your furry family members!
